Liberia mobile phone and internet costs
Liberia has four mobile phone operators and a number of ISPs. Two of the mobile phone operators (Lonestar and Cellcom) also have data services available with different pricing for businesses and individuals.
Average cost for voice is between .10 and .15 per minute.
Liberia's largest operator with about 50% market share. They have towers in every county in Liberia but Grand Kru. They offer GPRS and are now starting to roll out EDGE data services. Was once owned by former Liberian President Charles Taylor's associates, but is now mostly owned by MTN.
Lonestar is $0.01 after you're first 15 messages in a month and $0.05 for the first 15 messages

Liberia's second largest operator. They have towers in every country, but Gbarpolu. They offer EDGE data services. EDGE is sold $60.00USD monthly for unlimited access. http://www.lr.cellcomgsm.com

STEP ONE: Make sure you have a sufficient airtime balance - the monthly fee will be deducted directly from your airtime credit once your GPRS/EDGE is activated.
STEP TWO: Press *GPRS# OR *4777# and then press SEND
After you have activated your GPRS account, you will need to configure your mobile phone to browse.

Liberia's smallest operator. They do offer GPRS data service and have some towers in very remote areas, but overall have very small coverage.

Also called Liberian Telecommunications Corporation (LTC) Liblelco is the state owned national operator. It originally fell apart after the war destroyed all of its infrastructure. It is now starting back up with limited wireless services in Monrovia and a data center. It may also play a role in establishing international gateways and peering amongst the other operators.
